Agreeing to these terms

By creating an account or using Meerkat you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app. You must be at least 13 years old to use Meerkat; if you are under 18, a parent or guardian should agree to these terms with you, and some activities may have their own age limits.

Your account

Give accurate details, keep your login to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else is using your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account. You can delete it at any time from Settings → Delete my account.

Activities and organisers

Treks, events and volunteering days on Meerkat are organised by guides, hosts and NGOs who are not employed by us. Each organiser is responsible for their activity: its description, price, safety, permits they arrange, and any agreement you make with them. We check who can list activities, but we don't run the activities and can't guarantee them.

• Joining. When you join an activity, you share the details it asks for with the organiser. Show up as agreed. If your plans change, tell the organiser; a trek can also be left in the app until it starts.
• Prices and payment. Prices are set by the organiser and shown on the listing. Meerkat doesn't take payments in the app; you pay and arrange any refund with the organiser directly.
• Changes and cancellations. Organisers may change or cancel an activity. We will pass on the notice in the app, but we are not responsible for the organiser's decisions.

Trekking and outdoor safety

Trekking and outdoor activities in Nepal involve real risks, including altitude, weather, terrain and remote locations. Choose activities that match your fitness and experience, check the difficulty and the kit list, carry suitable insurance, and follow your guide's instructions and local rules. Weather shown in the app is a forecast from MET Norway and can be wrong.

Trekking permits

If a trek needs a permit (for example ACAP, MCAP or GCAP), the details you give are used to apply for it on your behalf. They must be accurate and your own. The issuing authority decides whether to grant a permit, and you must carry and follow it as the law requires.

For guides, hosts and NGOs

If you list activities you confirm that you are allowed to run them, that listings are accurate, and that you hold any licences, permits and insurance they need. Use members' details only to run the activity they joined, keep permit and ID details confidential, and delete them when you no longer need them. We may remove listings or organiser roles that break these terms.

Community rules

You keep ownership of what you post, and you give us permission to show it in Meerkat so other members can see it. Please don't post anything that is illegal, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, misleading or spam, that shares someone else's personal information without their consent, or that you don't have the right to share. Report posts and comments that break these rules from the app; we may remove content and suspend or close accounts that do.

Our rights

Meerkat, its name, the meerkat characters Joy, Maya and Oppy, its design and its code belong to Aarambha IT Research Center. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the app; they don't transfer any ownership to you. Please don't copy, resell, scrape or reverse-engineer the app, or interfere with its servers.

Changes and availability

We may update Meerkat, change or remove features, or stop offering it. If we change these terms we will update the effective date above; continuing to use Meerkat after that means you accept the new terms.

No warranty and limits of liability

Meerkat is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for activities run by organisers, for what other members post or do, or for losses that come from using the app. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the law that cannot be limited.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Nepal.
